When to use ASAP Recovery
ASAP Recovery is for any vehicle that needs moving now and can't, or shouldn't, be driven. That includes:
- Breakdowns at home, at work, in a car park or by the roadside
- Non-runners that need taking to a garage, a home or a yard
- Accident-damaged vehicles that can't be driven safely
- Cars, vans, motorbikes and heavier vehicles
Stay safe before you book
Booking a recovery comes second to keeping everyone safe. Before you open the app:
- Get yourself and any passengers to a safe place, away from moving traffic
- Switch on your hazard lights
- If anyone is in danger, call 999
- On a live motorway, the official services move the vehicle first; book recovery once it is in a safe place
The motorway rule
If the vehicle is on a live motorway, it should first be moved by the official services. Once it is somewhere safe, such as a recovery yard, you can book ASAP Recovery from there.
This applies to any live motorway, at any time of day. Booking from a safe place keeps you, the recovery driver and other road users out of danger.
What to tell the driver
The more accurate your details, the easier it is for a suitable driver to accept and to recover the vehicle first time. When you book, you add:
- The exact location of the vehicle, such as the street, car park level or a nearby landmark
- Where the vehicle is going
- Whether the vehicle runs
- Whether you have the keys
- Whether the wheels turn, or if any are locked or damaged
- How to access the vehicle, especially if you can't stay with it
Recovery vehicles drivers use
You choose a suitable recovery vehicle when you book. In general terms, recovery drivers use:
- Tow trucks, which lift one end of the vehicle and tow it on its other wheels
- Flatbeds, including tilt-and-slide beds, which carry the whole vehicle on a bed that tilts down to load it
- Low-loaders, with a low deck for low, long or heavy vehicles
What happens after you book
You see an instant price once you've chosen a recovery vehicle. Pay Cargo One's booking fee by card. The driver's price is paid to the driver on delivery.
Recovery drivers near the vehicle with a suitable vehicle are alerted first, and the search widens if needed. The first suitable driver to accept is assigned, and there is no guaranteed arrival or response time.
Live tracking and photo proof
Once a driver accepts, you can follow the recovery on the map from acceptance, through collection, to drop-off. When the vehicle is dropped off, the driver uploads photo proof and you get a notification.
Cancelling
While your job is still waiting for a driver, you can cancel it in the app and your booking fee is refunded in full. Once the vehicle or items have been collected, the job can't be cancelled in the app, so contact support.
